Hibernation

As you might guess from the image above, I am about to go into hibernation. In the southern hemisphere, where summer is around the corner, I'm more correctly going into aestivation (but who would recognize that?).

I won't be dozing in a warm cabin in the snow. For the next two months, I will be offline as I venture into the Australian bush. This time away is crucial for personal and creative rejuvenation. Much like the writer in the image, who has paused amidst his work to rest and recharge, I'll be walking 1,000km (620 miles) from Perth to Albany on the Bibbulmun Track.

The walk has been on my bucket list for some time Australian bush offers a unique opportunity to disconnect from the constant hum of modern life and reconnect with nature.

My goal during this time is to step away from technology, immerse myself in the beauty of the natural world, and reflect on my personal and professional journey. The walk coincides with my retirement from my day job, and the employer where I have worked for the least 32 years.

While I won’t be actively responding to emails or online queries, I hope this pilgrimage will inspire fresh ideas and perspectives that I can bring back to my writing. Much like the candles in the image softly illuminating the writer's desk, I anticipate this journey will bring a similar glow of insight and clarity to my mind and spirit as I embrace a simpler lifestyle for the journey.

I forward to reconnecting with you all when I return. In the meantime, feel free to browse my past blogs, and I can’t wait to share new stories and reflections with you when I’m back.
